Viterbi Family Vision Research Center
We’re proud to contribute to the UC San Diego Viterbi Family Vision Research Center, a forward-looking, 115,000-square-foot facility dedicated to advancing the understanding and treatment of ophthalmologic disease. Located in the Health Sciences East Neighborhood and designed by NBBJ, the center brings together wet labs, clinical trial operations, and academic and administrative spaces—carefully integrated to promote collaboration and discovery at every level.
For this transformative project, mottLAB West provided and installed a full suite of high-performance laboratory casework and equipment, manufactured by our trusted partner, Mott Manufacturing. Central to this installation are Optima™ Bench Systems, chosen for their exceptional flexibility and future-ready design. These modular benches support quick reconfiguration, making it easy to adapt workspaces to evolving research needs without major disruption. Integrated services, suspended casework, and overhead utility distribution enhance usability and optimize lab footprint—ideal for the interdisciplinary nature of vision science research.
This project exemplifies the power of flexible, purpose-built design in supporting groundbreaking scientific discovery. We’re honored to support UCSD’s mission to improve vision health through innovation and collaboration.
